Areas of Practice
Personal Counselling
Personal counselling is an opportunity to explore, in a supportive and collaborative way, any issue that may be affecting you. Through this I can help to clarify what is currently happening for you, and work with you on implementing what needs to change.
Some of the key areas clients choose to work with me are:
depression
anxiety
managing stress
grief and loss
trauma
self-esteem
sexual abuse
life transitions
Relationship Counselling
Positive relationship experiences can be some of the most fulfilling experiences in life. Though for a number of reasons we can lose the connection and value that we initially felt in our relationships. This can lead to a relationship that can be unfulfilling, lacking connection or with conflict.
My way of working with couples is to provide a supportive environment for each person to express what is happening for them in the relationship. Through this the key needs for the people in the relationship can be explored, and healthier ways of communicating and connecting established.
Some of the key areas clients explore are:
increasing intimacy
overcoming the impact of an affair
reconnecting after growing apart
sexual intimacy
separation
managing parenting issues
step-families
trust issues
anger issues
financial stress
Men’s Counselling
Men can find it difficult to reach out for support and to get the help that they need and deserve. The messages that some of us have heard from a young age is to just “get on with it”. Unfortunately this can lead to men ignoring their challenges and not dealing with issues as early as possible. Counselling is a chance to talk about what you are experiencing, including the hard stuff, and be supported to identify ways to make life better.
Some of the key areas I work with men are:
stress
anxiety
relationships
parenting
grief and loss
work
trauma
self-esteem
anger
